The Advent iPhone 4 and the iOS

by admin on Jun.08, 2010, under Technology

So if any of you know me or are tech Junkie like me I’m sure you aware today was the keynote of WWDC 2010 where the iPhone 4 was officially revealed to us; and allow me to say it is in fact an extremely fantastic device that I would love to own, but there’s one thing stopping me.

If you haven’t guessed it by now then you’re dense. Think about it, what is the achilles heal of the iPhone? Why it’s exclusive network, of course AT&T. In fact I would go as far as to say that the only thing holding Apple and the iPhone back from reaching its maximum potential would be AT&T.

Now let me go into detail about why this is the case, now more than ever. You see the problems before were the network itself. It was  shoddy, things  didn’t work, like drop calls etc. So what AT&T did was update their network. After that well would ya know, it still didn’t work and things where still shoddy.  Even John Stewart had commented about Apple, saying that was the one thing making the device look bad. So what is AT&T’s solution to this? Let’s limit how much Data our users can have and limit how much they can purchase. Allow me to opine, THATS JUST STUPID AND BACKWARDS! This is America the land of ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFETS, we hate this concept of less is more crap (and in the case of AT&T the less our users use our network the faster it will go, HURR DERR DERP DERP DERP).  Though I must say after seeing the device in action if it weren’t for this limiting data crap that AT&T is doing now I probably would have seriously considered switching over to AT&T; but there’s no way in hell that’s going to happen now!

So when will we see the Holy Grail that is the iPhone on a working network? Well since according to anything I can find on the internet about it, it looks as though the contract between the two isn’t going to be terminating  any time soon, meaning we probably won’t see a Verizon iPhone or any other carrier for that matter until at least 2012. If I had to put a pin on it I’d say probably won’t happen until a month or two after I graduate school. So what does this mean for Apple? If Google is clever; witch they have shown time and time again that they are. Android now has the time it needs to catch up, and potently defeat Apple. While I love the iOS as they’re now calling it I can’t help but feel like Apples decision to stick with AT&T (weather by choice or contract) is a shot in the foot for them, slowing them down and allowing the ever accelerating Android platform its chance to catch up.

But in the wake of the announcement today not all is bad! I now, being a registered developer, am eligible to use the new iOS4 on my touch. Unfortunately because it is a second gen iPod Touch it can’t do everything that iOS4 features like multi tasking. However I will say that I thoroughly enjoy the spell check feature and the folders system for apps that they’re now implementing, and I can’t wait till the background running Pandora app comes out as well as being able to put PDFs on it, so I can read them whenever and wherever I like!

Well I think that’s all I have to say for now. If you actually read this I’m curious who you people are, so please leave a comment!

So It Begins

by admin on Jun.01, 2010, under General Stuff

This blog was created at the suggestion of one of my friends who graduated college. I would imagine that while at school together I must have had deep and profound Impact on him thus leading him to suggest I make a blog so that he can access my words and insight any time he has an internet connection, as well as share me with the rest of the world.

This raises another question who am I?

Well because this is the internet and chances are if you are reading this you already know me or have met me before, so will leave it at a college student with some crazy ideas that may someday change the world.

also Actual posts coming soon!!

Funny that I write this with a big thunder storm overhead.
